Just received my replacement it has 1.08 on it. Should i keep 1.08?
The fade in out is annoying but I can deal with it if its going to be more stable.

Also, I can't believe XM tried to charge me a fee to switch radios! when I explained I was switching to due to a defective radio she said thay could do one-time free swap but next time I'd have to pay. Rolling Eyes

You are suppose to get 2 swaps, on defective radios, I've had 2 XMP3's go bad, I'm on my 3rd one, next time, I'll have to pay an activation fee according to XM, but ,I won't be buying another XMP3
if this one go's bad between now and MAY 2010....I'm over it, it's a nice paortable (when it works, somehow I'm waiting for my 3rd one to break) so far ,it hasn't , maybe it wont Rolling Eyes

There should be no limit on switching defective radios especially when you are swapping the same model. In fact they should be giving me a credit for the 3 weeks I couldnt use the radio! No matter how many time Pioneer has to replace this I will NEVER pay a fee to switch defective equipment and if they're stupid enough to lose a customer over it then so be it.

Wow.

Well, this week I was actually set on getting of these for work because it seemed like the perfect device. I've been to both Best Buy and Fry's here in Austin and neither have had any in stock for over a month.

I was bummed at first, but reading your reviews makes me think it was for the best. I had hoped to find something less bulky than my Skyfi2 for my desk as I have to listen with headphones and it doesn't work so well through my computer speakers. Now I'm frustrated because I had really hoped this was the solution to my problem.

Would I have to get the boombox also to use my headphones?

No, just a home kit.

Or, if you want to go the cheap route, you can just use the included car cradle and car antenna (or use your existing SkyFi home antenna), and only need to buy a home power cord:

This morning, my second replacement XMP3 is showing "powering up" message of death. This was my office in dock radio (as were previous 2) In my complete disgust I called XM and canceled my 2 subscriptions. When I told the operator the reason I was canceling, he took it in stride and remarked that I was not the only one having issues with this model. I asked him why they didn't do anything about it? to which I got no reply. Showing early promise XMP3 is a failed product and anyone interested in XM/Sirius service should look elsewhere for hardware.

what an ordeal to get this sent back.. i have to pay for shipping, and then I doubt XM will give me a rebate on lost programming time due to this.

have the rest of you that had this problem... did you have your warranty reset to the time of receipt of the new device? or am i only going to get 6 more months of warranty once i get my new unit?

With all the problems I got the extended warranty at best buy..
I am glad I did... When my 2nd radio died I took it back and got my money back. I Bitched and they gave me a % of my warranty money back also.
the radio is great when it worked correctly, which sadly wasn't very long.

I haven't had mine that long, and it was a factory refurb, but it's been great so far.

I followed the advice of others that if you want to regularly record with it, you need to save your recording schedule to your computer so that you can replace it. This model is very quick to dump your recording schedule at almost any turn.

My Xmp3 won't get past the "Powering up..." or "Please wait..." screen either. I used it fine last night off the home cradle and shut it off normally. But when I tried this morning to listen to it, the radio wouldn't complete the power up. I even tried putting it in the cradle without the battery and that still didn't fix it.

Tonight I'll try to connect it to my PC to see if that does any good. I've got it at home now, off of the cradle with the battery out of it.

I wish there were a way to reset it. If connecting it to the PC doesn't work I guess I'll have o call Pioneer to see what they say.
